Invention relates to method for predicting the growth rate of young children. Essence of this method: by taking a scraping from the mucous membrane of the cheek get the genetic material of the child, DNA is isolated, then genotyping is carried out, and the AA genotype of the rs9939609 FTO gene is detected in young children, including newborns, by real-time PCR. Carriers of this genotype are classified as at risk for accelerated growth and development of the metabolic syndrome and related non-infectious diseases in the future.

EFFECT: proposed method is easy to use, non-invasive, can be used from the moment of birth, highly informative.
