METHOD OF SELECTIVE DELIVERY OF CHEMICALS TO THE RETINA IN TREATMENT OF INTRAOCULAR RETINOBLASTOMA IN CHILDREN Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC A61F9/07 A61B6/00 A61M25/95

Abstract RU 2672127 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, oncology and endovascular surgery, and can be used for selective delivery of chemotherapy to the retina in the treatment of intraocular retinoblastoma in children. Transfemoral access is made. Chemotherapy is administered through a perfusor. When stenosis of the mouth of the ophthalmic artery, as well as retrograde blood flow through the ophthalmic artery as a result of hemodynamic redistribution, alternative sources of blood supply from the branches of the external carotid artery are revealed: a. infraorbitalis, a. temp. superficialis, a. facialis. Diagnostic catheter in the proximal external carotid artery is placed. A series of shots is performed in the mode of digital subtraction angiography in the lateral projection with the introduction of a contrast agent. After evaluating the diagnostic arteriograms obtained in the presence of retinal contrasting, a microcatheter is inserted into one of the identified alternative sources of blood supply from the external carotid artery system.

EFFECT: method provides an increase in treatment efficacy of children with intraocular retinoblastoma by creating an effective method of delivering a chemotherapy drug to retina.
