FIELD: radar ranging and radio navigation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to helicopter radar landing systems and can be used in their development. Essence of the invention lies in the fact that in the process of vertical descent they receive the reflected signals from angular directions by N receivers installed in sectors with α=2π/N, axis of the DN of the n-th antenna is directed to a point with polar coordinates αn=αn-1+2π/N and β=arctg(R/Hof), where n=1…N, α0=0, R is the radius of the landing zone, the measurement of the height of the helicopter’s flight is carried out by an antenna with a width of DN β0=2arctg(R/H0), where is H0 – height of hovering of the helicopter before landing, measure the distance to the earth's surface in each sector, calculate the height of the range, compare the difference between the measured and calculated heights Δn with threshold to hΔ and if the condition |Δn|≥hΔ decide on the presence of obstacles in this sector when Δn>0, or in the central region of the landing zone in the opposite case.
EFFECT: increased probability of detecting obstacles in the landing zone by receiving echo signals directly from the helicopter landing zone, regardless of its height.
