FIELD: radar.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radar and can be used for determination of aircraft flight altitude above Earth, water surface, over surface of various planets, as well as at takeoff and landing. Summery: measurement of flight altitude is carried out using method based on measuring length of exposed site with help of radar altimeter or on-board radar. Due to fact that measurement of distance to any radar reflectors lying within directivity pattern of onboard antenna is performed, elimination of causes of errors in known radar altimeters takes place.
EFFECT: technical result is reduction of error of measurement of height when change in direction of radiation occurred, intensity, appearance of splashes, movement of surface water layer.
