FIELD: fire safety.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to fire safety, and in particular to methods for monitoring the state of optically transparent gaseous media, mainly in closed rooms, and can be used to detect fires accompanied by the appearance of smoke. Smoke detection method based on optical reflection of light beam uses laser rangefinder as radiator and receiver, and uses room ceiling as radiation reflector, at the same time static position of the laser range finder is controlled, initial readings of laser range finder is recorded le, laser rangefinder readings are periodically recorded li and Δl = le-li are calculated, if Δl exceeds the magnitude of absolute error ΔX laser rangefinder, signal of the presence of smoke is generated, taking into account static position of laser rangefinder.
EFFECT: technical result is to increase reliability, mobility and versatility, without reducing the information content of monitoring the volume of the room, while providing protection against false positives.
