FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical technology and can be used in the preparation of sorbents of sulfur compounds used for gas purification. Process involves reacting zinc oxide with an ammoniacal carbonate solution to produce a basic zinc carbonate, preparing a molding composition containing magnesium oxide and a plasticizer, forming the pellets, drying and sieving. According to the method, 5 parts by weight of zinc carbonate are added to the molding paste, % magnesium oxide, 10–15 wt. % of high-alumina cement and plasticizer. After molding, the pellets are heat treated at a temperature of 300–340 °C under isothermal exposure for 2–4 hours, then hydrothermal treatment at 80–90 °C for 2–3 hours.
EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the dynamic sulfur capacity of the sorbent and a reduction in the energy costs for its production.
