FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used to assess the functional state of the lacrimal gland in sarcoidosis. Intravital clinical assessment of local changes in the lacrimal gland and the retrobulbar orbital space is performed using a three-dimensional digital ultrasound scan of the lacrimal gland and orbital tissues. When detecting hyperechoic tubular structures corresponding to vessels affected by sarcoidosis, the vascular lesion index is calculated as the ratio of the number of these structures in the gland to their number in the retro-bulbar space. With a vascular lesion index of 0.3–0.6, the functional state of the lacrimal gland in sarcoidosis is assessed as impaired.
EFFECT: method provides a choice of patient management tactics for preventive action against possible manifestations of dry eye syndrome in sarcoidosis by calculating the vascular lesion index using three-dimensional digital ultrasound scanning of the lacrimal gland and orbit tissues.
