FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to ophthalmology and functional diagnostics, and can be used for ultrasound examination of the lacrimal gland. For this, the patient undergoes echography in B-scan modes, color Doppler mapping and Doppler sonography using a linear high-frequency transducer 11-18 MHz. First, the palpebral part of the lacrimal gland is examined in three mutually perpendicular planes by positioning the ultrasound sensor transpalpebrally in the upper-outer quadrant of the upper eyelid in an oblique-transverse direction with the orientation of the scanning plane through the middle of the eyebrow and the outer edge of the orbit. Next, the position of the sensor is changed by 90° with the orientation of the scanning plane through the inner corner of the orbit and the lateral edge of the eyebrow. After that, the orbital part of the lacrimal gland is examined with the transducer moving upwards under the upper wall of the orbit and scanning is performed in the same planes as for the palpebral part of the lacrimal gland.
EFFECT: invention provides an effective diagnosis of pathological changes in the lacrimal gland using an ultrasound study by obtaining a sufficient amount of diagnostic information not only about the localization, but also the nature of the pathological process, which in practical terms will help to determine the adequate treatment tactics, and, if necessary, the scope of surgical intervention.
