FIELD: medical science.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology, and can be used for diagnosing pathological changes of the lachrymal gland. Patient averts an eye downwards and inwards. That is followed by standard A-sonography using an ophthalmic sensor at ultrasound frequency 8 MHz. Sensor is placed transpalpebrally in a superior external orbital quadrant under a superior bone wall. Scanning surface of the sensor is directed to the temple in a projection of the lachrymal gland. When height-inhomogeneous echo signals with amplitude of 5 to 60% relative to maximum 100% of the signal from the eye tunics are recorded on the sonogram, pathological changes of the lachrymal gland are diagnosed.
EFFECT: method enables reducing errors in localization and recording of lachrymal gland echo signals ensured by transpalpebral lachrymal gland scanning.
