SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical analysis and, in particular, to the spectrometry of ion mobility. Ion analysis device comprises an ion source, which includes a spark ion source and a controller which controls the switching frequency of voltage variations in the ion source electrodes. Controller is a computer-controlled high-voltage switching circuit, which, during analysis, is capable of producing stable voltages and quickly switching the polarity of the electrodes at any time after the spectrum has finished.

EFFECT: providing ion analysis methods using an ionisation source that would provide the flexibility needed to optimise detection performance for a wide range of substances with different physical and chemical properties.
