SUBSTANCE: use: to increase energy efficiency of the ion modification process. Essence of the invention is that the ion mobility spectrometer comprises a sample inlet, having a hole configured to feed a gaseous medium sample from the atmospheric pressure region to the low ionomer mobility ionisation region; a controller configured to control the gas pressure in the low pressure region such that it is below atmospheric pressure; and an ion modifier configured to modify ions in the low pressure region, wherein the ions are obtained from said gas sample.
EFFECT: technical result is possibility of increasing energy efficiency of ion modification process.
