SUBSTANCE: invention relates to embodiments of a method for increasing the hydrophilicity of a membrane. Method for increasing the hydrophilicity of a membrane consists in that a membrane made of polyaniline, a polyaniline derivative or a copolymer thereof, and one or more gelling inhibiting agents is treated with one or more hydrophilicity restoration agents selected from organic sulphonic acids in an amount and for a time, sufficient to increase the hydrophilicity of the membrane. Gelling inhibitor contained in the membrane is a primary amine, a secondary amine or a tertiary amine, or a combination thereof. Hydrophilicity restoration agents used are organic sulphonic acids. In addition, the membrane can be treated, for example, with NH4OH to completely remove the organic sulphonic acid. Membrane obtained by one of the embodiments of the method has a positive value of
