FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an electrode element consisting of a solid electrode, comprising two separate catalytic components, housed in a single stand-alone part, comprising: substrate of a valve metal; first catalytic component deposited on said substrate, wherein said first catalytic component is suitable for separating oxygen from an aqueous solution during anodic polarization; second catalytic component suitable for the formation of chlorine dioxide from a solution of chlorate in an acidic medium; wherein the first and second catalytic components are electrically isolated from each other. Invention also relates to an electrolytic cell containing such an electrode element, and a method for producing chlorine dioxide on the catalytic component of an electrochemical cell containing such an electrode element.
EFFECT: use of the invention allows to exclude the flow of acid into the process from the outside.
