SUBSTANCE: turning tool (2) comprises body (4), cutting plate (6) and support plate (8). Coolant supply system continues through turning tool (2), its first section extending through tool body (4) and an end portion extending through support plate (8). End portion of the coolant supply system includes a through hole extending from the first surface to the opposite second surface of support plate (8). End portion includes coolant outlet (12) at the second surface formed only in support plate (8). Coolant jet from outlet (12) is directed to a space intended for a cutting zone of a workpiece. Cutting insert (6) for use in turning tool (2) is also disclosed.
EFFECT: increase in the cooling efficiency of the cutting zone from a rear surface of a cutting edge of the cutting plate is achieved.
