FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an adapter for a tool with a socket for receiving a cutting plate and a mounting hole and to a cutting tool assembly having such a tool adapter. Tool adapter has an adapter axis defining the longitudinal direction of the adapter and comprises: a front retaining portion having a main jaw, a clamping jaw and a cutting plate receptacle disposed therebetween, wherein the cutting plate receptacle has a lower abutment surface and an opposite upper clamping surface, and a rear mounting portion axially behind the front retaining portion, the rear mounting portion having an axially rearward mounting surface and a first fastening hole. Main slot separates the main jaw from the clamping jaw and communicates with the insert receiving seat; an additional slot, transverse to the main slot, separates the clamping jaw from the rear mounting portion; and the first mounting hole has a first hole axis that crosses the rear mounting surface and the additional slot.
