FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of active coals. Method of producing active coal based on wood raw material is proposed, including grinding the raw material to fragments of 3–7 mm, its carbonization and steam-gas activation. Iron wood is used as a raw material. Carbonization is carried out at a temperature of 420–450 °C with a temperature rise rate of 10–12 °C/min, and activation is carried out at a temperature of 850±20 °C and the consumption of water vapor, equal to 3–5 kg per 1 kg of carbonated coal.
EFFECT: method allows to obtain active coal with a high adsorption capacity for the extraction of toxic methanol vapors from cigarette smoke.
