FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing direct reduced iron (DRI) and gaseous fuel for a steel plant using coke oven gas (COG) and basic oxygen furnace gas (BOFG). Method includes the following stages: compressing the flow of COG in the compressor; passing a compressed stream of COG through a layer of activated charcoal to remove tar from a compressed stream of COG; separating the hydrogen-rich gas stream from the compressed purified COG stream using a pressure differential adsorption unit (PSA). Next, the flow of a hydrogen-rich gas stream is supplied to the direct reduction shaft furnace as a reducing gas and the flow of the remaining gas is supplied from the PSA unit to the steel mill as a gaseous fuel. Method further includes recycling the top gas stream from the direct reduction shaft furnace back to the reducing gas.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is to reduce the level of hydrocarbons in COG.
