FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the auger-type propulsion units in the wheelchairs for the public stairs flights overcoming. Auger-type propulsion unit contains a cylindrical rotor with the multiple-start spiral fin. In the cylinder between the fins, two rows of holes for the elastic-flexible springs coils are made. Inside the rotor on the oriented to the propulsion unit supporting plane lever, a freely rotating along the springs pressed from the inside of the rotor roller is installed with the viscoelastic material elastic coating and rotation axis parallel to the cylindrical rotor axis of rotation.
EFFECT: expansion of functional capabilities of screw propeller when moving on hard surfaces is achieved, as well as overcoming staircases of common use.
