FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to copolymers used in pigmented coating compositions. Proposed copolymer, which has a transition temperature in the glassy state Tg at least -30 °C, which is obtained by polymerizing a mixture of olefinic unsaturated monomers (a) in at least one organic solvent and in the presence of at least one initiator, where the mixture of monomers (a), which is subjected to polymerization, includes (a1) from 10 to 60 mol. % of at least one monomer of formula (I), where R1=C1-C4 alkoxy, R2=C1-C4 alkyl and m=0–2, and (a2) from 40 to 90 mol. % of at least one olefinic unsaturated monomer selected from the monomers of the formulas H2C=CH-C(=O)-O-Rx and H2C=C(CH3)-C(=O)-O-Rx, where Rx represents an alkyl radical that contains from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and where the total amount of monomer molar fractions (a1) and (a2) based on the total molar amount of monomers used (a) is at least 90 mol. %, and the copolymerization is carried out at a temperature of from 60 to 200 °C and at a pressure of at least 2 bar. Pigmented coating composition containing said copolymer, a multi-layer coloring system using said composition and a method for its preparation, as well as the use of the inventive copolymer is also provided.

EFFECT: improved adhesion of the coating material to the substrate, as well as to the lacquer layer applied over the coating.
