SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for producing reduced iron. Agglomerate is manufactured by agglomerating a mixture comprising an iron oxide-containing material and a carbon reducing agent, and reduced iron is obtained by heating the agglomerate to reduce the iron oxide in the agglomerate. In such a case Ccc×Xless than 105/OFeO≤51 where OFeO represents the mass fraction in percent of oxygen contained in the iron oxide in the agglomerate, Ccc represents the mass fraction as a percentage of total combined carbon in the agglomerate and Xless than 105 represents the mass fraction in percent of particles having a particle diameter of 105 mcm or less, relative to the total mass of particles constituting the carbon reducing agent.

EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the yield of reduced iron.
