SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of modelling and calibrating an imaging device. Method for modelling an imaging device includes: determining a first three-dimensional orthogonal coordinate system having a coordinate origin located at the focal point of the imaging device; determining a second three-dimensional orthogonal coordinate system having a coordinate origin located at a unit distance from the focal point; determining a third three-dimensional coordinate system having a coordinate origin located at a focal distance from the focal point; obtaining a set of three-dimensional coordinates associated with a point of a real three-dimensional object captured by an image forming device; calculating the projection of a point on the true scale plane and on the image plane; and outputting a second set of planar coordinates indicating the location of the image point corresponding to the point of the three-dimensional object.

EFFECT: technical result is an improvement in the modelling technology for an imaging device.
