FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to double metal cyanide (DMC) complex catalysts suitable for the polymerization of epoxy compounds to polyethers. Invention consists in the fact that upon receipt of solid DMC catalysts in specially selected conditions at all stages of its preparation at the stage of obtaining a catalyst suspension, an additional 0.0005–0.05 wt.% 1,2-alkylene glycol is added to the reaction mixture calculated for a simple polyether. Ethylene glycol and 1,2-propylene glycol are used as 1,2-alkylene glycol, and polyoxyalkylene diol or polyoxyalkylene monool is used as the polyether, which has an average number molecular weight up to 1500 and obtained by polymerization of ethylene oxide or propylene oxide and a low molecular weight alcohol containing from 1 to 10 carbon atoms.

EFFECT: catalysts obtained by this method allow to synthesize simple polyethers with a low degree of unsaturation, they are very active, which allows them to be used in low concentrations (50 ppm or less).
