FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacture of a bulk structure of a fibrous material used as a heat-insulating material, as well as a reinforcing filler in manufacture of products made of carbon-carbon composite material. Fibrous material of the bulk structure contains layers of carbon fibers, fragmented to the size of filaments along discrete length carbon fibers, fastened together by vertically arranged bundles of carbon fibers obtained by needling of these layers. In accordance with the claimed method, a layer of carbon fibers is formed on the basis of discrete in length and fragmented in thickness (up to filament sizes) fibers by combing discrete fibers – by themselves or contained in the pieces of fabric – due to their passage in the gap between the rotating rollers with saw-toothed fillet. Fragmented fibers are fed to a perforated, rotating and under-vacuum drum to form a floor of them, followed by winding the latter in the form of a canvas onto a take-up shaft and needling. If it is necessary to obtain a thick layer of canvases, a bag is packed before needling. Method is carried out on a conveyor line, equipped with a carding machine for fragmentation of fibers, drum for forming a canvas, take-up shaft and table for needling, as well as, if necessary, palletizing mechanism.

EFFECT: better insulating properties of a fibrous material while maintaining a sufficiently high strength of composite products made from it for structural purposes.
