SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the production of aluminium alloys containing copper and carbon. Method of producing an aluminium alloy containing Cu and C includes preparing an Al melt containing Cu, adding to the melt graphite particles and carbonisation promoter particles containing boron or a boron compound, at a temperature of 800 °C to 1000 °C in an atmosphere with a low concentration of oxygen or protective gas atmosphere, removing the slag carbonisation promoter, which is formed from particles of the carbonisation promoter and floats on the surface of the melt after dispersing the graphite in the melt and casting the resulting melt into a mould.

EFFECT: invention is aimed at improving the strength of the alloy.
