SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of wireless communication, in particular, to a device and method for adapting a communication link in a random access scheme to an uplink communication. Method of adapting a communication link in a wireless network includes the following steps: receiving the first packet by the transmission point (TP) from the user equipment (UE) using the first modulation and coding scheme (MCS) without sending the corresponding assignment of uplink to the UE; receiving a second packet encoded using a second MCS different from the first MCS from the UE; selecting a second MCS and, after receiving the second packet, sending a command to the UE to use the second MCS.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of data transmission.
