FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a recombinant Escherichia coli (E. coli) strain optimised for the enzymatic production of L-methionine, where in said recombinant strain, the metN, metI and metQ genes are deleted, and said recombinant strain includes an increased number of copies of the ygaZH genes or their homologous genes or includes a promoter leading to increased expression of the ygaZH genes or their homologous genes, whereby the ygaZH genes or their homologous genes are overexpressed. Method is disclosed for optimising the enzymatic production of L-methionine by culturing said recombinant E. coli strain.
EFFECT: group of inventions allows to increase the production of L-methionine in comparison with the control strain.
