SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biochemistry, in particular, to a recombinant microorganism of Enterobacteriaceae bacteria family, such as E.coli optimized for the enzymatic production of methionine. The specified microorganism is modified in such a way that it has a weakened activity of cobalamin-independent MetE methionine synthase, and the metH gene is overexpressed compared to an unmodified microorganism. The invention also discloses a method of enzymatic production of methionine by cultivation of the specified recombinant microorganism in a culture medium containing carbon and sulfur source.

EFFECT: invention allows for increasing the methionine yield.
