FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to medicine, vascular surgery, balloons with continuous fiber wind, methods for their manufacture. Fiber-reinforced device, such as an inflatable medical balloon, may be used in the heart valves, during balloon aortic valvuloplasty. Balloon includes a cylindrical central portion, first and second tapered or conical end portions connected to the cylindrical central portion along a central longitudinal axis extending from a first end of the balloon to a second end of the balloon. Balloon may include a single continuous fiber running substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis along the central portion and radially around at least a portion of the end portions, or both. Device may comprise a second fiber extending radially around the central portion of the balloon, which may be part of the single continuous fiber.
EFFECT: balloon production methods include applying multiple lengths of a single continuous fiber to a portion of the balloon and attaching fiber.
