FIELD: nuclear physics; nuclear engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the structures of nuclear power plants serving to generate energy in nuclear power plants, in terms of converting thermal energy into electrical energy. Nuclear power plant contains a slow-neutron nuclear reactor with nuclear fuel, moderator, coolant gas or liquid coolant containing electrically charged particles and/or ions, and an energy converter. Converter is made in the form of a transformer with a primary winding in the form of a pipe, spirally wound onto the core of a transformer, along which the coolant moves with electrically charged particles and/or ions included in it, and the secondary winding is an insulated electric conductor. Upstream or downstream of the primary winding of the transformer, a flow interrupter is installed.
EFFECT: technical result is to provide the possibility of using direct, single-stage conversion of thermal energy into electrical energy in the nuclear power installation with no mechanically rotating structural elements.
