FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and can be used in various industries. Method for determining magnetic fluid parameters comprises the exposure of microwave radiation and magnetic field to magnetic fluid located in the waveguide, measuring the coefficient of microwave radiation reflection from a magnetic fluid, determining a solid phase particle diameter, dielectric constant and volume fraction of the magnetic fluid solid phase, according to the invention, the presence of agglomerates is additionally detected in the magnetic fluid by obtaining an image of the liquid on a flat surface under exposure of the magnetic field, measuring the concentration of agglomerates, distance between them, thickness, distribution of agglomerates by length, determining the difference of the dielectric constant between the solid phase particles and magnetic fluid, determining the constant values of propagation of microwave radiation in the area of the waveguide filled with magnetic fluid, wherein one of the values being determined in the area with agglomerates, and the other one – in the area without them, determining the distribution of agglomerates by the volume of magnetic fluid along the direction of propagation of microwave radiation by identifying layers with and without agglomerates in magnetic fluid, determining the effective propagation constant and additionally determining the dielectric loss tangent.
EFFECT: invention provides higher accuracy of measurement of magnetic fluid parameters by eliminating errors caused by the presence of agglomerates.
