FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method for isolating MEG and 1,2-BDO from a first mixture comprising MEG and 1,2-BDO, comprising the following steps: (i) stage at which the specified first mixture containing MEG and 1,2-BDO, fed as raw materials to a distillation column; (ii) stage at which a glycerol-containing material is fed to the distillation column above the first mixture; (iii) stage at which the operation of the distillation column is carried out at a temperature in the range from 50 to 250 °C and pressure in the range from 0.1 to 400 kPa ; (iv) stage at which a stream containing MEG and glycerin is removed in the form of a stream of lower fractions from the distillation column; and (v) stage at which a stream containing 1,2-BDO is removed above a feed point of the glycerin-containing material to the distillation column.
EFFECT: method for the separation of glycols is presented.
