FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: present invention discloses methods of extracting a metal component from a process stream, one of the methods involves passing said process stream through a ceramic membrane comprising a selective layer with pore size in the range of at least 0.5 nm to not more than 10 nm; application of pressure difference to said ceramic membrane so that pressure outside of ceramic membrane is at least 50 kPa lower than pressure inside ceramic membrane, and not more than 4 MPa lower than pressure inside ceramic membrane; and, therefore, the permeate stream which has passed through the ceramic membrane and is depleted of the metal component, and retentate stream enriched with metal component; wherein process stream is obtained from process of conversion of saccharide-containing material into glycols, where the metal component is a homogeneous catalyst composition, and where the metal component contains one or more materials, selected from a list consisting of tungstic acid, molybdic acid, ammonium tungstate, ammonium metatungstate, ammonium paratungstate, tungstate compounds, containing at least one Group I or II element, meta-tungsten compounds containing at least one Group I or II element, paratungstate compounds, containing at least one Group I or II element, heteropoly compounds of tungsten, heteropoly compounds of molybdenum, oxides of tungsten, molybdenum oxides and their combinations.
EFFECT: disclosed is a method of extracting a metal component.
