SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the coating metal surfaces, involving the use of a silane additive. Proposed is the use of a silane additive to prevent the formation of pinholes on zinc-containing metal surfaces in an aqueous composition for cleaning zinc-containing metal surfaces, aqueous rinsing liquid and aqueous activation composition for zinc-containing metal surfaces, wherein the silane content in at least one of said aqueous compositions being in the range of 0.001 to 5 g/l.

EFFECT: invention provides for the suppression or prevention of the formation of pinholes during the treatment of zinc-containing metal surfaces and the prevention of markings, which may appear later in the lacquer coating.
