SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power plant engineering. Method of controlling air pressure in the pneumatic accumulator of a free-piston power module with an external combustion chamber, including a pneumatic accumulator, an external combustion chamber, a control system and air release valves, according to the invention at the time point, when the air pressure in the pneumatic accumulator reaches a value that provides the specified excess air ratio during fuel combustion in the external combustion chamber, the control system sets the air release valve to the open position and is compressed in the left cavity of the piston and is discharged to the atmosphere.
EFFECT: invention ensures the achievement of a given coefficient of excess air during the combustion of fuel in an external combustion chamber.
