Method of controlling the coefficient of excess air in the external combustion chamber of a free piston power module with an external combustion chamber is as follows. When a dose of fuel is supplied to the external combustion chamber, the control system simultaneously opens the pneumatic accumulator valve for a period of time, which provides the supply of air mass from the pneumatic accumulator to the external combustion chamber corresponding to the specified excess air ratio.
EFFECT: invention provides the optimization of the air excess coefficient depending on the load of a two-cylinder free piston power module with a common external combustion chamber.
