SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of energy and is intended for use in dual-circuit nuclear power plants with VVER. Method for increasing the power and safety of a power unit of a NPP with a VVER type reactor based on thermal storage, containing the reactor, steam generator (SG), main circulating pump (MCP), main steam turbine unit (STU), main STU condenser, low (LPH) and high (HPH) pressure heaters, deaerator, steam distribution devices (SDD1, SDD2), additional STU, additional STU condenser and heat accumulator (HA). At night, part of the steam is sent to the HA, then to the feedwater path of the main STU after the HPH, and part of the steam is sent to the additional turbine. In the hours of increased load, feedwater after HPH is sent to the HA, then it returns to the feedwater path. Excess steam is sent to an additional STU. In the event of de-energizing, the additional STU generates energy for the own needs of the NPP using steam obtained from the energy of residual heat generation, and the excess steam is sent to the HA.
EFFECT: ensuring the generation of additional electricity at the NPP power unit.
