SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for studying or analyzing ferromagnetic materials for detecting local defects by magnetic means. Magnetic flaw detection device for the rims of a wheel pair contains an electromagnet with a core, which excites the magnetic flux in the studied areas of the rims, and means of detecting magnetic field anomalies on them, characterized in that the wheelset is mounted on two rolls, the shape of which provides the maximum contact patch with the rims of the wheelset, the axes of the rolls are used as the core of the electromagnet, magnetic field sensors, which are permanently placed between the contact patches of the wheelset and the rolls, are used as a means of detecting magnetic field anomalies, areas of the rims of the wheelset under study are displaced due to the joint rotation of the wheelset and the rolls.

EFFECT: technical result is improving the accuracy and performance of the detection of defects in the rims of wheelsets.
