SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an extended release particle comprising starch, phenylephrine, and ethyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate copolymer, wherein said starch, phenylephrine, and ethyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate copolymer are coated with at least two coating layers, wherein a first coating layer comprises ethylcellulose, acetyltributylcitrate and magnesium stearate and wherein a second coating layer comprises ethyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate copolymer and ethylcellulose aqueous dispersion. Also disclosed is a composition for delivering phenylephrine to a subject in need thereof, comprising such extended release particles.

EFFECT: technical result is less frequent delivery of phenylephrine to patients in need thereof that results in improved patient compliance, constant therapeutic plasma levels of active components, decreased severity and frequency of side effects seen when multiple doses of a conventional immediate release formulation are given.
