FIELD: analytical chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and can be used to determine mercury in fish and fish products. To do this, homogenize the meat of fish or fish products and place the sample in a mixture of 1 % solution of potassium permanganate, nitric, perchloric and sulfuric acids, deionized water in the ratio 1:10:10:50:200. Mixture is boiled until the bottom layer is completely clear, then cooled and diluted with water in the original volume. Polymethacrylate matrix in which diphenylcarbazone is immobilized for 15 minutes is placed in the prepared sample. After that, the matrix is removed, dried with filter paper and measure the optical density of the treated matrix at 550 nm. Conduct a visual assessment of the intensity of the color of the matrix on the color scale, and the quantitative content of mercury is determined by the graph of the dependence of the concentration of mercury in the solution on the optical density of the matrix with immobilized diphenylcarbazone after interaction with mercury.

EFFECT: invention provides for the rapid determination of mercury in samples without the use of toxic solvents and additional equipment.
