SUBSTANCE: claimed group of inventions relates to a method and system for overcoming an icy bridge. System for overcoming the icy bridge performs a method in which the vehicle approaching the bridge is automatically identified by the vehicle and detect ice accumulation on the bridge. Vehicle speed necessary to prevent longitudinal sliding between the vehicle and the bridge is calculated, and the vehicle is automatically slowed down with a delay sufficient to allow the vehicle to reach the calculated speed by the time it reaches the bridge.
EFFECT: automatic detection of icy bridge and speed control of the vehicle to prevent skidding is provided.
