SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biochemistry and medicine and is a method for preventing or treating an infection associated with influenza A H7N9 virus, comprising administering to a subject having or at risk for having influenza A H7N9 virus infection a therapeutically effective amount of an antibody, wherein the antibody comprises three heavy chain hypervariable regions (HVR-H1, HVR-H2, and HVR-H3) and three light chain hypervariable regions (HVR-L1 , HVR-L2, and HVR-L3), wherein (a) HVR-H1 comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 56; (b) HVR-H2 comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 57; (c) HVR-H3 comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 58; (d) HVR-L1 comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 59; (e) HVR-L2 comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 60; and (f) HVR-L3 comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 61.

EFFECT: disclosed anti-H7N9 influenza A virus antibodies are effective at binding, neutralizing, and treating influenza A H7N9 virus, compositions comprising such antibodies, and methods of using the same are also disclosed.
