SUBSTANCE: invention relates to woodworking, furniture and construction industries, in particular to technologies and devices for drying wood. Method and device for drying wood are proposed. Method includes heating a drying agent and wood in a drying chamber, movement and distribution of the drying agent in a wood stack using at least one fan, removing a vapour-air mixture and condensed moisture from the drying chamber to a receiver and then to a condensate collection tank, wood is exposed to three-period vacuum pulses with the moisture removal from wood and deepening the vacuum with each successive pulse, in which free moisture is removed in the first two periods of exposure of vacuum pulses, and bound moisture is removed in the third period, wherein after operations of vacuum exposure on wood of the first period, moisture is removed by draining or forced pumping out of moisture removed from wood accumulated in the drying chamber, in the process of vacuum exposure of the second and third periods, the condensate is further cooled to a temperature of 15–45 °C, wherein in the process of vacuum exposure on wood in the third period, when removing bound moisture, at least one steaming of wood is performed, and all operations of vacuum exposure are carried out with at least one receiver with a volume equal to 0.4–0.8 of the volume of the drying chamber.

EFFECT: technical result is increased efficiency of the drying process and higher quality of dried wood.
