FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and installation for producing ammonia and derivatives of ammonia compounds, such as urea, from natural gas feedstock, as well as to a method for upgrading an installation for the synthesis of ammonia and urea. Method includes the conversion of natural gas to synthesis gas in an input part, synthesis of ammonia from synthesis gas in a synthesis loop, the use of at least part of ammonia to produce an ammonia derivative. In addition, the method is carried out with energy consumers and heat consumers. Part of the natural gas feedstock is used to supply a gas turbine with fuel, and the energy produced by the gas turbine is used to meet, at least in part, the energy needs of energy consumers. Further, heat is recovered from the gas turbine exhaust gas and at least part of the heat is recovered in the form of low-temperature heat to provide process heat to at least one of said heat consumers. Low-temperature heat from the exhaust gas is transferred to at least one of the heat consumers by means of a heat transfer medium, and this medium is heated by indirect heat exchange with the exhaust gas to a temperature not higher than 200 °C.
EFFECT: reduction of energy consumption on said installations.
