SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a driving assistance device when the vehicle in question is changing lanes. Said device includes a position measurement means for measuring the position of the host vehicle, a detection means for detecting the conditions around the host vehicle, a database for recording map information, a setting means whereby locations, where the host vehicle must change lanes and reference points positioned forward of the locations in the travel direction of the host vehicle are set on the travel route of the host vehicle on the basis of the position of the host vehicle and the map information. Further, the setting means causes the points where the host vehicle should complete a lane change to be set as lane-change-completion points on the basis of the detection range of the detection means and the positions of the reference points.

EFFECT: proper change of lanes is provided.
