SUBSTANCE: claimed group of inventions relates to a device and method of driving assistance. Device that performs a driving assistance method comprises: an electronic control module, configured to determine whether or not the target position can be determined from a predetermined object for decelerating the vehicle. Electronic control module is configured to perform first aid, where the vehicle slows down with the first deceleration, which changes based on the driver’s brake pedal operation, in determining that the target position cannot be determined. And also to carry out a second aid, due to which the vehicle slows down with a second deceleration, which is equal to or higher than a predetermined deceleration, necessary to slow the vehicle to a target speed before the vehicle reaches the target position, determined from a predefined object, in determining that the target position can be determined.
EFFECT: assistance is provided when the vehicle is decelerated to a target speed before the vehicle reaches the target position, when interacting with the driver’s brake pedal operation.
