SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of driving assistance and a driving assistance device. Vehicle speed/movement control function and lane keeping function are provided as driving assistance functions, to assist in driving operations performed by the driver, and a mode transition controller is provided for switching between driving assistance modes. Traffic lane disappearance section (S), on which no traffic lane can be recognized, which extends from the current traffic lane, is detected on the continuation of the main vehicle movement route during movement with keeping of the traffic lane, in which the "free hands mode M1" was selected. When lane disappearance section (S) is detected, information on lane disappearance starting point (Ps1) is captured, and the first position (P1) and the second position (P2) are set between the position of the main vehicle and the starting point (Ps1) of the disappearance of the traffic lane. First position (P1), second position (P2) and starting point (Ps1) of disappearance of traffic lane are used as mode transition positions, and the transitions "free hands mode M1" → "manual mode M2" → "mode M3 of steering wheel operation" → "mode M4 of deactivation of steering wheel assistance" are performed.
EFFECT: reliable performance of transmission from system to driver due to stepped reduction of driving assistance level, when it is determined in advance that the steering wheel assistance will be deactivated in the movement scenario, which includes the mode with the increased driving assistance level.
