SUBSTANCE: invention relates to assistance systems for driving. Vehicle motion control device comprises an abnormality detection device and a motion stopping device. Abnormality detection device is adapted to determine whether or not the driver of the vehicle is in an abnormal state in which the driver loses the ability to drive the vehicle. Motion stopping device is arranged to stop the vehicle at the time point of determining abnormality and further and control the speed of the vehicle. Time point for determining the abnormality is the point in time at which it is determined that the driver is in an abnormal state. Speed of the vehicle does not become lower than the lower limit speed of the vehicle, in the period from the determination of the abnormality to the point in time at which the vehicle is stopped. Lower limit speed of the vehicle is set according to the shape of the road, and the shape of the road influences the time at which the driver of another vehicle moving behind the vehicle visually recognizes the vehicle.
EFFECT: higher safety of vehicle driving is achieved.
