FIELD: agriculture.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to fodder production, in particular, to an edible pet chew and a method for its preparation. Edible chew comprises fibrous protein in an amount ranging from 15 to 90 % by weight of the chew, a water-absorbing polymer in an amount ranging from 5 to 35 % by weight of the chew, wherein said water-absorbing polymer is selected from the group consisting of gelling proteins, hydrocolloids, edible hydrogels, and mixtures thereof; a plasticiser in an amount ranging from 5 to 40 % by weight of the chew; water in an amount of 1 to 20 % by weight of the chew; and a combination of anthocyanins and turmeric, and said combination of anthocyanins and turmeric produces a green colour. Source of anthocyanins is red cabbage, which has a pH value of 8 to 9, and turmeric has a pH value of 4.5 to 6.5.
EFFECT: use of the group of the invention allows to obtain a green product in a natural way with high solubility in the gastrointestinal environment.
