FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to acoustooptics and can be used to control such parameters of the electromagnetic radiation of the terahertz range as the direction of propagation, intensity, polarization, frequency and phase. Device for observing reverse collinear diffraction of terahertz radiation on an ultrasonic wave in a crystalline medium contains a radiation source, a beam splitter, photodetector, an electrical measuring instrument, a crystalline medium in the form of a straight prism, an ultrasonic beam emitter placed on the side face of the prism and having an acoustic contact with it. Entrance face, through which the radiation enters the prism, forms with the face containing the radiator, angle allowing the input of radiation from the environment into the prism, the passage of radiation through the prism, bypassing the radiator, and the coincidence of the track of the radiation beam refracted at the input face with the track reflected by the ultrasonic beam. Face through which the beam of refracted radiation leaves the prism is not perpendicular to it.
EFFECT: invention provides an implementation of reverse collinear diffraction of terahertz radiation on an ultrasonic wave in a crystalline medium.
