FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: using: to control such parameters of electromagnetic radiation of the terahertz range, as propagating direction, intensity, polarization, frequency and phase. Gist of the invention is that an acousto-optic cell (AO-cell) contains a sealed container with a liquid transparent to radiation and ultrasound, as well as an ultrasound emitter immersed in the liquid, and the container is provided with two transparent to radiation windows from a material with a refractive index close to that of the liquid, and the output window is not perpendicular to a radiation beam refracted at the input window, moreover, the emitter is oriented so that the sound beam emitted by it falls on the input window at an angle, providing a combination of the reflected sound beam and radiation beam refracted on this window.
EFFECT: technical result: providing the possibility of developing an AO-cell for the implementation of reverse collinear terahertz diffraction on an ultrasonic wave in a liquid.
